Biden's Sickening Hypocrisy

The empty shell that is Joe Biden appeared before the cameras, yesterday, to give the most gut-wrenchingly sickening vomit of hypocrisy, in relation to the Zionist war on Palestine. For 24 hours, the Zionist war machine had bombed and shelled the civilian men, women and children of Gaza, as they have done many times before, but now with even greater visceral barbarity. To compare the ineffective violence of Hamas to the 21st century, technological genocide of the Zionist war machine, is like comparing a gnat bite, to the huge hand that swats the gnat, followed by the attempt to destroy every other gnat by the use of large doses of insecticide. And, that is precisely what the Zionist state, and its Nazi leader, Netanyahu, and his Ministers, are committed to, a “final solution” to the “Palestinian problem”, by literally wiping Palestine and Palestinians off the map, and out of history, by an effective genocide against them.

As Biden spewed forth his bile, in support of the Nazi Netanyahu, and the racist, genocidal Zionist state, Gaza was literally under yet another bombardment. Biden rightly notes that Hamas is not the Palestinian people, but, in that case how can it be justified for the Zionist state to impose a collective punishment on the whole Palestinian people, rather than just on Hamas? How can it be justified not only for the Zionists to carpet bomb the whole of Gaza, whilst at the same time, sealing its borders so that ordinary Palestinian citizens are unable to evacuate it? How can it be justified for the Zionists to blockade the supply of power, food and essential medical supplies to the whole of the Palestinian population in Gaza, a measure compounded by the decision of an EU Minister to also inflict a collective punishment on Palestinians, by freezing all of its development aid.

When Palestinians are interviewed on TV, even those that are opponents of Hamas, they are repeatedly required to condemn the actions of Hamas, with no consideration of the fact that these actions are a desperate and irrational response to the preceding, and much more widespread continual oppression and violence against Palestinians committed by Zionism and its supporters.

There is no such pressing of the supporters of Zionism, such as Biden to condemn the massively more destructive actions of Zionism, in its day after day attacks on Palestinians, its erection of numerous border posts, preventing the free movement of Palestinians in their own land, nor the day after day stealing of Palestinian land and property. The UN has, year after year, listed such actions by the Zionist state, and even passed resolutions condemning them, and declaring them to be illegal. The Zionist state has been found to have committed war crimes, including the targeting and murder of journalists, including US-Palestinian journalists such as Shireen Abu Akleh, but the UN never takes any action against the Zionist state, because the US always vetoes any action, and the Zionists are never hauled before the International Criminal Court, because, like the US, the Zionist state does not recognise it.

In a matter of hours, the vast Zionist war machine in its indiscriminate targeting of Palestinian men, women and children, in Gaza, had killed nearly a thousand of them, with nearly 200,000 made homeless, and a further several thousand badly injured. As has often been the case, the Zionist state has not only bombed indiscriminately, but also in targeted ways, designed simply to inflict punishment and terror on the Palestinian people, as it has hit schools and hospitals, including those run by the UN agencies.

Yet, Biden made no reference to these genocidal attacks by the Zionist war machine, in fact, only mentioning the people of Gaza incidentally, as though their slaughter was, somehow, simply unfortunate – a word that the US uses whenever its actions or those of its proxies results in the mass deaths of civilians – or in some way accidental, as though it was a result of some natural disaster rather than the deliberate act of its Zionist ally that it has armed with to the teeth with these latest weapons, so as to inflict such devastation, and which it is now doing to an even greater extent!

But, the media never press Biden, or other western allies of Zionism, to condemn those actions, in the way they demand the supporters of the Palestinians to repeatedly denounce every action by Hamas! For the bourgeois media, which acts simply as the propaganda arm of imperialism, the Palestinians are simply some sub-human species, whose interests do not count as equal to those of the Zionists, and the more they get away with that narrative, the more it simply encourages the Zionists, for whom that racist assumption, is fundamental to their ideology, and basis of the confessional, racist state itself.

Indeed, even if the bourgeois media had any intention of asking the supporters of Zionism to condemn its genocidal, indiscriminate bombardment of Palestinian men, women and children, which has already cost the lives of over 400 Palestinian children, including babies, they would be wasting their time, because the supporters of the genocide being committed by the Zionist state, would simply refuse to do so, and simply talk, yet again, about the tiny, by comparison, atrocities committed by Hamas. When one US representative was questioned on that, by the media, he simply said that he would not comment on the military strategy and tactics of the Zionists!!

Biden, of course, is, now, so senile that he can barely get to the end of a sentence. He probably has no real understanding of what is going on, and simply attempts, badly, to read out the words written for him to deliver. In the same way that Starmer has attempted to compete with Britain's “Little Trump” (Boris Johnson), when it comes to appealing to the racists and bigots, to secure their vote, so Biden has attempted to do the same thing, in the US, but in competition with the real Trump. Biden has continued most of the foreign policies of Trump, and, now, as Trump looks likely to win the next election, given the abysmal performance of Biden and the Democrats, Biden has responded, as with Starmer, by moving even further to the Right, in search of the votes of reactionaries and racists.

Biden knows that Trump and the Nazi Netanyahu are not only like clones, but that Trump has based a lot of his positions on his friendship with and support of Netanyahu, as a means of appealing to that large swathe of reactionary sentiment, in the US, that backs Zionism. Ironically, in the US, its not Jews that form the largest constituent of that reactionary sentiment. Large numbers of Jews in the US are opponents of Zionism, and certainly of the Nazi Netanyahu. Rather the reactionary support comes from backward bigots, concentrated in rural America, and followers of the ideas of Christian fundamentalism, nutters who think that the world is only 7,000 years old, that the Bible is the literal Word of God, and who look to the Revelations of John, as foretelling The End of Days, arriving soon, via a Middle Easter War. All delirious nonsense, of course, but nonsense that plays an important role in US politics, amid a large constituency of ignorant, bigoted voters, some of whom Biden wants to have vote for him.

Trump, at least, was honest enough, or stupid enough, to say openly what everyone knows that there can never be a Two-State Solution, and that the US has no intention of pursuing one.

The message, therefore, is also clear to US workers, and especially to those workers that do not conform to the WASP constituency. It is that US imperialism will always see you as second-class citizens, and will always provide its support to its allies, as oppressors of others, particularly where they are white-skinned oppressors of others, and will always put those global interests of its global strategic dominance, based on such oppression, even above the interests of American workers. As Marx put it,

“A nation that enslaves another forges its own chains.”

The Jews in Israel, as seen with the Nazi Netanyahu's fascist coup, can never be free, themselves, so long as the Zionist state holds the Palestinians in chains. The last 75 years have shown that day after day. The Zionist state, like the apartheid state in South Africa, or the Protestant State, established by Britain in Northern Ireland (and indeed, the confessional, Catholic state that was created in the Republic) can try to sustain itself by giving privileges to one community over the other, but that, in itself, simply ensures that the communal conflict continues, and is used by the state to impose its own authoritarian, and often totalitarian, measures to restrict the liberties of all. But, the Zionist state will never grant Palestinians their own state, and will never voluntarily grant equal political rights to Palestinians in Israel, or occupied Palestine.  Only a struggle by the workers for such universal and equal political rights, can bring that about, which, of itself, is an integral part of replacing the current racist, Zionist state, not with some other bourgeois state, but with a socialist federation across the Middle-East and North Africa.

The US does not, directly, hold the Palestinians in chains, but its client, Zionist state does, and without the US, that state would be impossible to sustain. That, in itself, illustrates that point, because the Zionist state, in order to continue to exist, whilst oppressing the Palestinians, has to be a vassal state of US imperialism. But, that then applies to the US, which not only holds Israel in its grasp as a vassal state – much as it is doing, also with Ukraine – but, via that state, it also holds the Palestinians in chains, vicariously. And, consequently, the repercussions of that mean that the people of the US can never be free either, as witnessed by the requirement for restrictions on liberty, in the name of security.

The US workers deserve a better choice of options than that presented by the fake billionaire moron that is Trump, and the senile Biden, but more than that, they deserve better than a choice of representatives of US imperialism, all of whom put the interests of the global billionaire class above the interests of workers, including US workers. The job of Marxists, in the US, as elsewhere, it to begin to build, and offer up that better alternative.
