Zionism is a reactionary, racist, ultra nationalist and colonialist ideology that requires high levels of repression to suppress the contradictions inherent within it. From its inception, it has been driven to continually expand its territory at the expense of Palestinians and the neighbouring Arab states. The idea that it was ever going to agree to a Two State Solution was just a sop to gullible western liberals, and bourgeois Palestinian nationalists, whilst enabling Arab ruling classes to placate their own populations sympathy for the plight of the oppressed and occupied Palestinians.
The goal of Zionism was always clear. The establishment of a single confessional Zionist state, from the Jordan River to the Sea. Much as with other such authoritarian nationalist ideologies, it utilised mythology and "blood and land" imagery to support its quest to recreate the mythical Kingdom of David. That, of course, means wiping from the face of the map Palestine and the Palestinians, as even demonstrated in Netanyahu's presentation to the United Nations.
But, now, we have confirmation from within Netanyahu's government, even from a supposed "moderate" member of it, that their goal is indeed a genocide against the Palestinian population of Gaza, and if they get away with it, the Palestinians in the occupied West bank, will be next, as current attacks on them demonstrate.
