General Election 8th June - Now Select Corbynite Candidates for a Real Fight

Theresa May has called a General Election for 8th June.  She seems to be taking a leaf out of Erdogan's book, to consolidate her regime.  That requires a determined, and disciplined opposition to be in place.  Labour cannot do that with the current set of carping Blair-right MP's that have been undermining Corbyn for the last two years.

Labour party members should now take the opportunity to call selection meetings to replace Blair-right and soft left Labour MP's, and to select Corbyn supporting MP's in their place.  In that way, we will have a clearer and sharper PLP, behind Corbyn, and ready to take on the Tories and provide a real opposition to their right-wing policies, as opposed to the Blair-right, soft left, Tory-lite options provided in the past.  Even a smaller PLP that is ideologically sharper, and more disciplined behind Corbyn and McDonnell can provide a real alternative, behind which workers can rally in the period ahead.

The question is whether Corbyn, McDonnell and Momentum have got themselves organised enough at a grass roots level to take this advantage to consolidate the left's position.  It is also a question of whether they will now, drop their weak-kneed conciliation of the Blir-right, soft left opposition within the party, and press ahead with those de-selections.

Labour needs to put forward a clear set of policies that support workers interests, that provide clear water between Labour and the Tories/Liberals, and with the Blair-right past.  But, it should also be an internationalist programme that recognises the need to unite with workers across Europe, for such a programme to be effective.  It means, therefor, also, therefore, taking a clear stand of opposing Brexit, which is one of the biggest threats to workers interests that has existed for a long time.
